      RE: END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATION TIMETABLE (CIT AND BUSINESS PROGRAMMES)

      This is to inform all students enrolled in Certificate and Diploma programmes in Computing and Information Technology (CIT) and Business at both the Dar es Salaam and Dodoma branches that the End of Semester Examinations Timetable has been officially released by the Examination Office, University of Dar es Salaam Computing Centre (UCC).

      The examinations will be conducted from Monday, 24 August 2026 to Friday, 28 August 2026.

      All students are advised to:

      • Obtain and carefully review the examination timetable.
      • Begin preparing adequately for their examinations.
      • Ensure they attend all examinations according to the scheduled dates and times.
      • Read and familiarize themselves with the UCC Examination Rules and Regulations and strictly adhere to them throughout the examination period. Any student found violating the examination rules or engaging in any form of examination misconduct will be discontinued from studies in accordance with UCC Examination Regulations.

      The examination venue(s) will be communicated in due course.

      We encourage all students to prepare thoroughly and wish you every success in your End of Semester Examinations.

    • SPECIAL REMINDER TO ALL FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

      FINAL YEAR PROJECT (FYP) IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE (JUNE – SEPTEMBER 2026)

      All final-year students are hereby informed that the implementation of the Final Year Project (FYP) will commence on 01 June 2026 and conclude with the final project assessment on 30 September 2026.

      Students are required to follow the approved implementation schedule and ensure that all project activities are completed within the specified timeframes.

      Project Schedule Highlights

      Phase 1: Group Formation and Registration (01 – 12 June 2026)

      • Form project groups consisting of 2–5 students.
      • Register project groups.
      • Verify eligibility to undertake the project.

      Phase 2: Project Idea Identification and Title Validation (15 June – 02 July 2026)

      • Identify project ideas and research problems.
      • Submit proposed project titles for validation.

      Phase 3: Proposal Preparation and Title Defence (03 – 10 July 2026)

      • Prepare project proposals.
      • Present and defend project titles before the panel.
      • Revise proposals based on panel recommendations.

      Phase 4: Supervisor Allocation (13 – 14 July 2026)

      • Submit improved proposals.
      • Receive supervisor allocation.

      Phase 5: Project Planning and Design (15 – 31 July 2026)

      • Refine the problem statement and objectives with the supervisor.
      • Develop the project methodology and system design.
      • Begin preparation of the project report.

      Phase 6: System Development (03 – 28 August 2026)

      • Develop the project/system.
      • Conduct initial testing.
      • Document the development process.

      Phase 7: Testing and Report Writing (31 August – 11 September 2026)

      • Implement supervisor comments.
      • Conduct detailed testing.
      • Complete and submit the full draft report to the supervisor.

      Phase 8: Final Corrections and Submission (14 – 25 September 2026)

      • Incorporate final corrections.
      • Prepare presentation slides.
      • Submit the final report and project deliverables.

      Phase 9: Final Assessment (28 – 30 September 2026)

      • Present and demonstrate the project.
      • Respond to questions from the assessment panel.
      • Incorporate recommendations from the assessment panel where applicable.

      Important Note

      All students are advised to adhere strictly to the implementation schedule. Regular consultation with supervisors and timely completion of assigned tasks are essential for successful project completion.

Available courses

The course introduces students to the concepts and techniques for the art of writing computer programs. It will teach students the simple and practical approach of creating computer programs while learning computer programming.

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to develop object-oriented applications using Java. Topics covered include Java programming fundamentals, class design, object creation, constructors, methods, inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, interfaces, exception handling, file handling, and Java Collections Framework. Through hands-on exercises and practical projects, students will learn how to build reliable, maintainable, and scalable software solutions.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the fundamental concepts of Object-Oriented Programming.
  2. Design and implement classes and objects in Java.
  3. Apply encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and abstraction in software development.
